What is Young Mariners? Young Mariners began almost 5 years ago as
the founders realized that not only did youths have problems finding resources
for sailing but so did collegiates, adults, and even those with special
needs. For a community that is bounded by water, it has limited access for
those who desire to sail who did not already own a boat! From that realization,

Why Sailing? Everyone is different, and if you ask 100 people why they sail and race you most likely won't get the same answer twice. Sailing is a combination of mind and body, teamwork and personal excellence, of decisiveness and patience. Sailing has evolved as sport that is the great equalizer, men and women can compete on the same course, people with physical challenges sail against those considered to be at peak physical condition, and everyone has to keep their mind on the race while trying to make their boat go as fast as possible.
